The only thing that those in power cannot control is the thoughts of individuals. Although Orwell’s 1984 book envisioned a dystopian world in which thoughts were captured and punished, no power has ever existed that could prevent ideas. “Word on the Street” is reminiscent of the beginning of a revolution, indicating the power of collective thought spreading across society like a wave. The dominant colours of this series cut across the grey tone of the street, representing truths suppressed by power. Each piece in the “Word on the Street” series is handmade. Each piece is unique, and no two are the same.
